Owling SuccessIts funny how things happen sometimes.
Some time ago when on a trip with John Adams I had seen a Barn Owl resting on a road sign a mile or so outside Grantham. We had just passed the area and got to talking about these beautiful birds. I ventured the opinion that as the weather had been so fine of late Barn Owls had no need to hunt during the day. I had just finished saying it when Terry jumped up screaming BARN OWL!!!!.I turned to look and there was one only a few feet from the side of the road flying alongside the coach. I turned to say "well it shows what I know". When I saw a Little Owl on a road sign. I made this known and I think most of the passengers saw it. Two Owls within 30 seconds or so, and things were not finished as another Barn Owl was seen on the other side of the coach, a little further off this time. All this led Jan to hold an unofficial 'Bird of the Day'. (We are only allowed Bird of the Day when Paul Daft is present). Needless to say Barn Owl got well over half the votes. |
