Location
On A6005, seven miles south west of Nottingham on the River Trent.

Facilities
Car parking, easy access by train from local station. Visitors Centre opening Spring 2005. Free entry.

Environment
Large gravel pit complex - lakes, river, woodland, meadow, some farmland over the river. Bring your 'scope!

What to see
Common water birds (including breeding Common Tern, Grey Heron colony, Cormorant roost); warblers; Water Rail; Black Tern (bred once); wintering Bittern. Some good rarities have ended up here - following the path of the river? Star birds include a Sora Rail over Christmas 2004.
